Who Says You Can't Be a Quantum Mechanic ?
General Fusion's Latest Reactor ConceptPopular Science has a new article about General Fusion's pneumatically assisted plasma fusion reactor concept. Their device design reduces input energy needs by relying on a mechanical piston based compression concept using a liquid metal, which also helps to shield the core. Some of their earlier designs and lab photos can be found here.
I can already see some excited college students adding a few mechanical engineering courses next semester :-)
